1. Home Insurance:
Section A: Buildings
It covers residential buildings including landlords’ fixtures, fittings, perimeter wall, gate and fences, all on the same premises against fire, earthquake, storm and lightning, riot, strike and malicious damage, explosion of domestic gas cylinders bursting and overflowing of water tanks, apparatus, pipes and impact by road vehicles and animals.
Section B: House Hold Contents
This section covers the home owners’ contents including furniture, household goods and personal effects of every description, the property of the insured or that of any member of his family normally, residing with him, fixtures and fittings of the insured’s or for which he is legally responsible. The property is covered against fire, theft following forcible entry or exit, earthquake, storm and lightning, riot, strike and malicious damage, explosion of domestic gas cylinders, bursting and overflowing of water tanks, apparatus, pipes and impact by road vehicles and animals.
This covers accidental damage and theft to specified portable items which are carried outside the house such as jewellery, electronic items like mobile phones, laptops, tablets and cameras. Etc
This covers domestic servants such as house helps, watchmen, gardeners and drivers in respect of injury, death or disease arising out of and in the course of employment. The cover is mandatory for all employers as per the Work Injury Benefit Act (WIBA).
This policy will indemnify the insured against any such liability incurred thereby under the Employer’s Liability Common Law Tort, which indemnity shall be limited to settlement of such awards except exemplary and punitive damages as may be awarded in judgments passed by competent courts in Kenya against the insured for such liability. Limit Kshs. 500,000/-
This section covers the home owner against legal liability of third parties for accidental bodily injury and accidental loss of or damage to property.
This section covers the home occupier against legal liability of third parties for accidental bodily injury and accidental loss of or damage to property.
2. Motor Private insurance:
Provide insurance cover against loss or damage to the motor vehicle caused or arising out of accidental collision, or overturning, or total theft. The policy extends to cover damage to third party property arising out of or caused by use of insured’s motor vehicle. 9. Pet Insurance
Insurance policy covers any animal kept not for economic gain but for the owner’s comfort, e.g. Dogs, Cats.
Summary of Cover
The insurance will pay the owner of the animal should the animal die in any of
the following circumstances:
- Accidental death caused by lightening, internal and external injuries,
- windstorm, snake bite, electrocution or flooding etc.
- Illness or disease
- Widespread outbreak of an infectious disease affecting many animals at the
same time in a region.
- Where your animal is in a great deal of pain and there is no chance of a
favourable outcome, the pet can be put to sleep on advice of a qualified
veterinary surgeon to prevent suffering.
- Straying and Theft risks
- Where a pet leaves its home, stolen and cannot be traced and is presumed
dead after 14 days, agreed value of the pet will be paid, if it does not have a
definite value, then market value of the pet will be paid.
- Medical expenses incurred as a result of illness and/or accident where
treatment is carried out by a qualified veterinary surgeon.
